Despite their sugar-free composition, the expert explains that diet soft drinks are sweetened with aspartame, an artificial sweetener that is about 200 times sweeter than regular sugar.
“People think it’s a healthy substitute, but it’s really, really bad. It is not good for gut bacteria and is associated with many negative side effects, including cancer in animals,” the neuroscientist stressed.
