Ingredients:

  • 6 ripe tomatoes
  • 1 medium cucumber
  • 1 medium green pepper
  • 1 small onion
  • 2 cloves of garlic
  • 2 slices of stale bread
  • 4 tablespoons of olive oil
  • 2 tablespoons red wine vinegar
  • 1/2 cup (tea) cold water
  • Salt and black pepper to taste
  • Fresh basil leaves for garnish (optional)

Preparation method:

  1. Start by removing the skin and seeds from the tomatoes.
  2. Cut the tomatoes, cucumber, pepper, onion and garlic cloves into small pieces.
  3. Remove the crust from the bread slices and then cut them into small pieces.
  4. In a blender, blend the tomatoes, cucumber, peppers, onion and garlic.
  5. Add the pieces of bread, water, vinegar, olive oil and beat until smooth.
  6. Season with salt and pepper to taste.
  7. Refrigerate until ready to serve with basil, if desired.
