Known as ‘layering’, a common technique in the world of fashion and beauty, where the model has made a career
The world of celebrities often presents us with beauty and style secrets that pique our curiosity. One of the latest trends that has aroused public interest is the perfume application technique created by Yasmin Brunet within the most followed house in Brazil.
Confined to Big Brother Brasil 24, the model is often praised by her reality colleagues for the good smell she gives off throughout the house. This Sunday (18th), the application of two fragrances on Brunet’s skin attracted attention on social media.
In the video Brunet perfumes the neck, neck, shoulders, forearms and wrists with the first perfume and spreads the second fragrance on the neck and wrists.
The technique used by the model is known as ‘layering’, and is common in various contexts, including fashion and skincare. When it comes to fragrances, layering refers to the practice of combining different scents or scented products to create a personalized, unique fragrance.
This can be done by applying different scents to specific areas of the body or by combining them with complementary scented products such as body lotions or perfume oils.
How to do?
According to the advice of the perfumers of Biscay Cosmeticsthe first step towards good layering is to understand what the olfactory notes of a perfume are and how the olfactory pyramids can help you identify the most important notes of a fragrance.
- Top notes represent the first impressions of a perfume, perceived immediately after application on the skin. They evaporate quickly, being generally fresh in composition.
- The heart notes take a few minutes to fully manifest themselves.
- The base notes appear last and linger on the skin for hours.
“An effective strategy for combining two perfumes is to select fragrances that share similar notes. For those who prefer a safer approach, combining scents from the same olfactory family is a good option,” suggests the brand.
For those who want to start the technique, the brand suggests spraying one perfume on top of another or on different areas of the body, for example one fragrance on the neck while another is applied on the wrists.
“If one of the perfumes has a longer trail, then it should be applied first and, a few minutes later, the lighter perfume should be sprayed. This will help you feel the notes of each fragrance,” says Vizcaya.
However, the brand warns that the combination of two very strong fragrances generally does not give good results. “The beauty of layering is in combining the subtleties of each fragrance and how the olfactory notes overlap with each other. It is an art and therefore requires a little patience,” she concludes.
