Ingredients:

  • 2 tablets of organic fresh yeast (30g)
  • 1 cup (tea) warm water
  • 2 cups whole wheat flour
  • 4 tablespoons of olive oil
  • 1 teaspoon of salt
  • 2 tablespoons of brown sugar
  • 1 cup (tea) wheat flour (approximately)
  • Oil for anointing

Preparation method:

  1. In a bowl, dissolve the yeast in warm water, add half the wholemeal flour and mix with a spoon until you obtain a smooth mixture.
  2. Cover with a cloth and then leave to rest for 1 hour.
  3. Add the oil, salt, sugar and the rest of the flour, mixing with a spoon until it comes away from the sides of the bowl.
  4. If necessary, add more wheat flour.
  5. Cover and let rest for 1 hour.
  6. Divide the batter between 2 greased medium English cake pans and leave to rest for 30 minutes.
  7. Bake in a preheated medium oven for 50 minutes or until golden brown.
  8. Leave to cool, turn out and, if desired, serve with cream cheese.
