From Moscow to Petrozavodsk: where in Russia to make wishes come true

In the capital, to the right of the entrance to the Novodevichy Convent, is the Naprudnaya Tower, often called Sofya’s Tower. They say that after the death of Peter I’s sister, Sophia, imprisoned in a monastery for participating in the Streltsy rebellion, the tower became enchanted – all wishes expressed in it come true.

This architectural structure is guarded by four golden griffins. The townspeople claim to know how to grant their dearest desires: you have to formulate a request, say it aloud or to yourself and stroke the wing of the beast. And in order for the dream to come true, you need to leave a coin near the lion’s paw.

Rituals near this rock of a strange blue color were practiced by pagans as early as the 9th century. Today, tourists from all over the world come to the Blue Stone to ask for an artifact about something important. A stone is said to pay: you must leave a coin on it or tie a ribbon to a nearby tree.

Shunte-Levy has another name: Cape of Love. Thus, it was nicknamed by the locals for its strange shape: the rock bifurcates, and its two ends resemble a woman’s legs bent at the knees – this is the position taken by a young mother during childbirth. They say that on the cape you should ask for a meeting with your soul mate or the appearance of children. For the boy, you need to go to the left side of the cape, for the girl – to the right.

Are you going to rest in Sochi in the summer? Look in the medieval temple, which was built by the Byzantines in the X-XI centuries. Almost nothing remains of the temple, but if you touch the ancient stones and think of your most important dream, it will definitely come true.

In Petrozavodsk, on the shore of Lake Onega, there is a sculpture that depicts a tree in natural scale. In its center is an ear, above which hangs a sign with the inscription: “Whisper one wish”. Many tourists who have done so assure: the wish has come true!

This monument was created in honor of the Empress’s visit to Kazan. The life-size royal carriage was cast in bronze, and there are rumors: if you sit in the carriage and imagine a place you wish to visit, then your wish will surely come true.
