Potenza Brazilian olive oil wins an important international award

The product was the best in the “Light Fruity Olive Oil” category, in the 22nd edition of the Expoliva International Quality Award for the Best Extra Virgin Olive Oils

OR Fruity Extra Virgin Olive Oil from Potenza, from Fazenda Serra dos Tapes, in Canguçu, Rio Grande do Sul, has won yet another international award. The brand was champion in the “Light fruity olive oil” category at the 22nd edition of the Expoliva International Quality Award for the best extra virgin olive oils. The award-winning olive oil is the only Brazilian representative in this edition of the competition.

Created by the Del Olivar Foundation for the Promotion and Development of Olive Groves and Olive Oil, based in the Spanish city of Jáen, the world capital of olive oil, the Expoliva International Award is the oldest and one of the most traditional in the sector. Its main difference lies in the rigor and demand throughout the process of collecting samples and evaluating candidates.

To ensure transparency and authenticity in choosing the winners, the collection of olive oil samples is carried out under the supervision of a notary. Upon arrival at the destination, a double key is used, always authenticated, with the aim of certifying the integrity and confidentiality of the results. In the 2023/2024 edition of the Expoliva International Award, 137 olive oil samples were collected from different countries, including Spain, Italy, France, Argentina, Uruguay and Brazil.

Last yearthe brand had already been awarded as the best olive oil in the southern hemisphere by the Mario Solinas Quality Award.

Speaking of olive oil

The fruity Potenza extra virgin olive oil blend was created by olive oil sommelier and master press at Fazenda Serra dos Tapes, Cláudia Santos. With a maximum acidity of 0.14%, the product is prepared with the Arbequina, Coratina and Frantoio olive varieties.

According to her, the difference between Potenza Frutado is the coratina variety. Normally used in more intense blends, Cláudia has achieved an ideal proportion, guaranteeing an oil that, although fruity, is rich in herbaceous and floral aromas. Potenza Frutado is ideal with risottos, white meats, cheeses, delicate sauces, salads, seafood and desserts.
