The perfume application technique used by Yasmin Brunet attracted the attention of viewers of Big Brother Brasil 24, especially due to the praise the model receives from her fellow prisoners for being perfumed.
Yasmin usually uses an approach called “layering”, which consists of mixing two or more fragrances to create another fragrance, different, unique and personalized according to your tastes or personalized.
To better understand how to apply the technique in everyday life, the Earth spoke with Verônica Kato, Natura’s exclusive perfumer, who gave advice on the method.
According to the expert, the ideal is to mix different olfactory paths. Those with more top notes – fresh, citrus, herbaceous and fruity – combined with olfactory paths that have more full-bodied notes – floral and spicy – or with more base notes, such as wood, musk and sweets.
“The olfactory path of citrus fruits with vetiver wood combines very well, for example. Just like a musk fragrance, which is a base note, it matches all olfactory paths,” says Kato.
Layering ingredients can also prolong the duration and projection of the fragrance on the body. The perfumer explains that this happens when the base notes add up and when the top notes add up and overlap.

How to mix
To start using the technique without errors, the ideal is to mix a Musk fragrance (base note), which smells like a second skin and combines well with all the other olfactory paths, herbs, citrus fruits, flowers or wood.
Kato suggests that over time the person tries more complex blends, such as a citrus (top notes) with a floral fragrance (body notes) and a more woody fragrance (base notes). “But always following the principle of mixing top, body and base notes to have the best chance of success,” he says.
The perfumer underlines that the secret to succeeding in the experience is to always do tests, understand how many top drops mixed with how many base or body drops come close to a more pleasant fragrance.
“And always smell, after all perfumery is an alchemy of different smells combined to arrive at something unique and pleasant for your personal taste. This is the magic,” concludes the expert.
