So-called “superfoods” are famous for containing protective substances that add numerous health benefits. Most of them are vegetables, fruits and grains.
This was explained by nutritionist Carolina Pimentel, doctor of science at the University of São Paulo (USP). Estadao that this “classification serves to communicate foods with high nutritional value to the consumer”.
Although their benefits are recognized, there is no official definition of superfoods, supported by studies. But it can be said that there are foods with particular characteristics that contribute to keeping the body healthy.
Among these is turmeric, a rhizome of an Asian species also called turmeric. It offers antioxidant compounds and can be used in frying as a sort of condiment, since in an oily environment, together with heat, it promotes the release of aromatic compounds.
