The president gave Emmanuel Macron a box of cheese and sparkling wine
President Lula gave Emmanuel Macron, president of France, a box of six cheeses, five of which were the best and most awarded Brazilian cheeses, “also recognized in France, so he can tell me what he thinks” and a sparkling wine from Serra Gaucha .
There were four cheeses from Minas Gerais:
Serjão Canastra, from Piumhi – Mondial Du Fromage Super Gold Gold Medal in France, in 2021, has a particular maturation with the presence of white mold, natural from the Canastra region. With crunchy skin, white mold and a soft, lush interior.
Moderate Aiuruoca Goa – It is described as a soft cheese with 120 days of maturation, made from its own milk. He received gold and bronze medals in France. Jeferson Arantes, director of the farm owned by Guilherme Arantes, explained that the cheese is smooth, soft, colorful and not very spicy, made from raw whole milk.
“It’s a sweet, soft cheese, it’s intermediately ripe, it’s a very balanced cheese, very pleasant,” Jeferson says. The crescent-shaped cheese weighs 500 grams and is sold at the farm’s cheese shop for R$70 a piece.
Maranatha Bronze from Virginia – Cheese aged 100 days, produced with raw milk, inspired by Italian cheeses, with cooked and buttery paste. Light flavor and fruity aroma thanks to its 100-day maturation. It is described as a “special and extremely tasty cheese”. “It’s amazing paired with chestnuts, honey and apricots.”
Maranata Bronze cheese weighs approximately 350g and costs R$48.00.
Full moon in the city of Bueno Brandão – Produced by Queijaria Serra das Antas, located in the city of Bueno Brandão/MG, Lua Cheia is made from high-fat cow’s milk. It is a soft cheese with a rind covered with natural charcoal and a special selection of white molds. A piece of approximately 300 g weighs R$66.50.
From Pará, Lula presented the Cheese from the island of Marajó, produced with 100% buffalo milk with a light, refreshing and delicate flavour. It has no skin and has a compact consistency.
And to close the list, Macron also won Cuesta cheese, of Pardinho, São Paulo, handcrafted with raw milk from Gir cows, raised on pasture at Fazenda Sant’Anna. It has an 8-month maturation process on wooden racks, in underground cellars that guarantee “temperature and humidity stability, ideal conditions for the entire tuning process”.
