The document, which will contain watermarked drawings of Brazilian biomes, will begin production in September. The government says the value remains the same
The federal government presented a new version of the passport to make the document more secure. Among the changes, there are new security standards in production that will make fraud more difficult possible.

The number of watermarks has increased from one to 13 and they represent elements of the six Brazilian biomes. Also new are invisible fluorescent backgrounds with biome names that are only seen after UV exposure, which were previously limited to page numbers.
On the identification pages, in addition to the traditional color photo, there will also be two other photos, one is a “ghost” image in black and white and another formed on the basis of the wearer’s biometric data.
The current cover, which features the stars of the Cruzeiro do Sul, will be replaced by the coat of arms of the Republic, which was already present in the old versions of the document and will also have elements of the flag in bas-relief.
The government said the price remains the same, R $ 257.25, and the shelf life remains ten years.
The new passport will begin to be produced in September, in commemoration of the 200th anniversary of Brazil’s Independence, but there is no need to rush to renew it. Documents in progress remain valid until expiration.
