Located in the European Santa Catarina Valley, Pomerode has a strong connection to the German colonization that took place in the 18th century and evidence of this can be seen in the architecture, festivities and, of course, gastronomy. There are restaurants serving German and Italian cuisine.
On the Enxaimel route, a tour recognized as a sustainable destination by Green Destinations, there are three very interesting options, but it is in the center of Pomerode that the gastronomic enthusiasm is concentrated. Discover the best restaurants in the city:
Lemke Ranch
Located in a house built in 1875 that is part of the Rota do Enxaimel, the Lemke Ranch serves typically German dishes such as aquamarine, pork knuckle and sausages. From Wednesday to Friday the restaurant is à la carte and on weekends an all-you-can-eat buffet is served, including German dishes. The restaurant also serves pizzas.

Trout route
A Trout route offers seven fish-based recipes: with chestnuts; rosemary; garlic and oil; leek with cherry tomatoes; capers with field mushrooms; candy apples; and fried trout. Dishes are served in rotation and include salad, fried polenta, rice, bread and pâté and trout pirão. The fish is caught in the nearby town Rio dos Cedros.

Spaetzle restaurant
The flagship of Home It is the German pasta that gives the restaurant its name, produced by hand. Additionally, the place serves other authentic German dishes such as pork knuckle, currywurst (which is a pork sausage seasoned with curry), hackepeter, among others.

Pomeranian beer garden
OR Pomeranian beer garden it’s a nice (and delicious) option in the center of Pomerode. In the outdoor area there is a stage where presentations and also competitions are held between customers, for example who can hold a mug of beer the longest without spilling it. Don’t forget to order the bacon rinds, which practically melt in your mouth. Another good option is the schnitzel, accompanied by french fries or potato mayonnaise. There are craft beers on tap and it’s worth requesting the tasting ruler, which comes with five 150ml glasses.

Wunderwald
One of the most traditional restaurants in Pomerode is located along the highway from the city to Blumenau, also in a small half-timbered house. In addition to typically German dishes there is also Italian cuisine. Don’t forget to leave a little space for dessert: the restaurant It has a dessert buffet, included.

Spice
A house of pasta, which has been around for over 30 years, only works at night. The restaurant offers classics of Italian cuisine such as Capeletti in Brodo, but also more original dishes such as Ravioli Pomerode (mini ravioli filled with Hungarian sausage with Vermont raclette cheese with butter and thyme) and Gnocchi Vale do Testo (gnocchi with Vale do Testo cheese Text). Vermont text covered in tomato sauce and au gratin), produced with local inputs.

In a great location in the center of Pomerode, the Funiculi Funicula serves classic Italian pasta handmade in-house, both rotating and à la carte.
