Today (19th) we celebrate the day of Saint Expedito, one of the most popular among Brazilian Catholics. Known as the Saint of Urgent Causes, the story goes that he was a Roman soldier who converted to Christianity after dreaming that a raven said the word “tomorrow” to him and then Expeditus stepped on him saying “today”. He discovered the prayers to obtain thanks to the divinity.

“O Holy Accelerated One, we humbly beg you to come to our aid, so that your prompt and sure intercession may obtain from the Lord the grace of a happy and rapid solution to the pending question that worries us. However, without worries and with total trust in sovereign wisdom of the Lord, we dare to give ourselves to Him without reservation, so that only His Will governs us, Amen!”
For urgent reasons
“Oh! My Holy Expedition for just and urgent causes, intercede for me with Our Lord Jesus Christ, so that he may come to my aid in this hour of anguish and desperation. My Holy Expedition, you who are the Holy Warrior; you who are the Saint of the afflicted and the defenseless; you who are the Saint of the unemployed, you who are the Saint of urgent causes, protect me, help me, giving me strength, courage and serenity;
(Make the request) My Holy Expedition, help me overcome these difficult times, protecting me from all those who could harm me, protecting my family, urgently respond to my request, restoring peace and tranquility to me. My Holy Expedition! I will be grateful to you for the rest of my life and will spread your name to all who have faith.”
Promise to the Holy Expedite
“Saint Espedito, who by order of Divine Mercy was chosen to obtain prompt and effective help in our extreme need, deign to look at those who come to implore your help with full confidence in your goodness.
Intercede, great Saint, for us, protect us before the Throne of the Most High and of the Most Holy Mary, obtaining the necessary assistance to achieve my eternal salvation and a special grace (ask for the desired grace) if God wishes to grant it for me.
I recognize that I am unworthy of your favors for the offenses I have committed against the Divine Majesty, but now I mourn and detest them with all my heart, and I hope for the forgiveness of your infinite mercy, through the intercession of Mary and with your patronage. As proof of my gratitude, for the grace I implore, I promise you (to make the promise).”
