Participating restaurants will have the challenge of creating typical German dishes with Brazilian ingredients
OR 18th Gastronomic Review de Pomerode will promote a meeting between Germanic tradition and Brazilian ingredients adopted by immigrants. From 4 to 21 July, 12 restaurants will offer the public recipes inspired by the theme “Germanic roots, tropical flavours”.
The recipes prepared will feature foods found in the Atlantic Forest or that were regularly consumed in Santa Catarina in the 19th century. Each restaurant took on the task of creating a new dish starting from a randomly selected ingredient. They are: hearts of palm, corn, cassava, molasses, cassava flour, sweet potatoes, bananas, citrus fruits, cachaça, coffee, sweet potatoes and peanuts. The theme integrates the festival with the celebrations of 200 years of German immigration to Brazil.
In this edition, the work of preparing the recipes makes use of the gastronomic consultancy of chef Willian Aimar, made possible by a partnership between Associação Visto Pomerode and Sebrae/SC. Since March, the 12 restaurants have been participating in conferences, workshops and training with the aim of transforming the chosen theme into a unique gastronomic experience.
In addition to the so-called “star dishes”, which follow the theme of each edition of the festival, each restaurant has the freedom to explore its own gastronomic identity in the other dishes on the menu. In total, there will be around 100 options to choose from.
All 12 restaurants are gathered in the same environment: the Municipal Events Pavilion. In other words, visitors can try different creations without moving.
However, even though the space is a party space, everything resembles a restaurant. Intimate atmosphere and music, uniformed waiters, crystal glasses, porcelain crockery and metal cutlery are part of the winter experience at European Valley.
The complete program, with all the attractions of the 2024 event, is being prepared and should be released in June.
