Spain is highlighted in the list with 28 cities listed; see the complete ranking
GuruWalk, a site that collects free guided walking tours, has created a survey of the 100 best cities in the world to explore on foot. The research took into consideration data relating to bookings and visits to the platform’s landing pages over the last year.
First place went to Rome: the number of attractions in the historic center is so high that it is possible to divide them into four walking routes. Italy reappears with Florence in fifth place, whose compact center is largely closed to cars and can easily be explored on foot (see here for a suggested itinerary). The ranking also includes Venice (14th), Milan (25th), Naples (37th) and Bologna (78th).
The country that stood out the most, however, was Spain. In addition to Barcelona and Madrid which occupy third and fourth place respectively, 26 other Spanish cities appear in the top 100. The podium is completed with Budapest, TO Hungaryin second place.
Most of the destinations mentioned are in Europe. Among the representatives of the American continent, the best ranked cities were the Colombian ones Medellín (24th) and Cartagena (31st). No Brazilian city was on the list.
