Hash brown: grated American potato, crunchy, without frying


Cook the fried potatoes as a side dish, which instead of being fried, were cooked in the oven: golden and crunchy




The famous American potato gnocchi (hash browns), golden and crunchy, without frying

Recipe for 4 people.

2 bowls, 1 grater, 1 cutting board, 1 baking tray(s) (or more), 1 non-metallic bowl(s), 1 pastry brush(es)

Hash Brown Ingredients:

-4 medium asterix potatoes

– 2 eggs beaten – or enough

– Salt to taste

– pepper to taste THE

– unsalted butter to taste, for brushing

Ingredients FOR GREAKING

– oil to taste

PREPARATION:

  1. Preheat the oven to 200°C.
  2. Separate the recipe ingredients and utensils.
  3. Crack the egg(s) into a bowl and whisk just to combine.
  4. Wash and peel the onion and grate it on the coarse side.
  5. Wash and peel the potatoes and grate them on the coarse side.
  6. Grease the baking tray(s) with a drizzle of oil.

PREPARATION:

Hash Brown – preparation:

  1. Place the grated potatoes and onions in a clean tea towel and squeeze out any excess liquid.
  2. Transfer to a bowl large enough to combine all the ingredients.
  3. Gradually add the beaten egg(s) and mix.
  4. Check that the potatoes are completely covered by the egg/s – add/increase if necessary to give the necessary binding.
  5. Add the salt and pepper and mix again.

Hash Brown – cook:

  1. Using a spoon, portion the dough and place it on the baking tray(s).
  2. Flatten them slightly so that they are about 1cm thick.
  3. Place the butter in a non-metallic bowl and place it in the microwave for 30 seconds to melt.
  4. Brush the hash browns with the melted butter.
  5. Place in a preheated oven at 200°C and bake for 20-30 minutes or until golden brown.
  6. If you want a fried appearance, turn every 5 minutes. However, to simplify things, the recipe is also excellent by turning it only once, half the time, so that it browns evenly on both sides.

FINALIZATION AND ASSEMBLY:

  1. Arrange the hash browns on a plate or, if you prefer, place them on plates next to the main course.
  2. Serve immediately.
