Portugal eliminates all entry rules into the country

It is no longer necessary to present vaccination evidence or negative tests for Covid-19

Starting this Friday, July 1, travelers headed to Portugal will no longer have to carry out Covid-19 tests or prove vaccination to enter the country. A few months ago, Brazilians already reported that, despite the mandatory tests and vaccine, it was normal for none of the vouchers to be checked upon arrival in Portuguese territory. The government’s decision to lift all restrictions puts an end to this confusion, justified by the high vaccination coverage and the stable situation of the pandemic in Portugal.

Furthermore, the international context was also a motivator for the resolution. In the European Union, few countries still maintain entry requirements related to Covid-19. Proof of vaccination or a negative test result is still required to enter Spain and France, while the Netherlands only requires proof of vaccination. There are currently no restrictions to enter Germany, but proof of vaccination for Pfizer, Moderna, AstraZeneca or Janssen vaccines will again be mandatory from September.

It is worth mentioning that the use of face masks remains mandatory in public transport, cars, facilities and health services throughout mainland Portugal. On the island of Madeira it is also mandatory to wear masks in airports and maritime terminals, in addition to the use of protection in all enclosed spaces.
