Making reservations with gift cards is the solution to avoiding payment surcharges
Anyone who has tried to pay for accommodation in installments on Airbnb will have realized that it is not possible to avoid interest by making the purchase directly in the app. But it is possible to get around the surcharges with gift cards.
Airbnb gift vouchers have a value between R$150 and R$1,000, never expire and can be spent on bookings anywhere in the world. To the Brazil the cards are sold in retail stores, such as Americanas and Submarino, and in payment platforms, such as PicPay and Méliuz.
In physical stores in the Americas, you can pay for any purchase over R$400 in up to 10 interest-free installments. So, to escape Airbnb surcharges, you will need to go to a facility and purchase gift cards.
After purchasing the cards – worth over R$400 -, simply redeem them on Airbnb: in the app, go to your profile tab, click on “gift cards” and then on “redeem” to enter the card code.
The total value of the cards is used as the balance to be spent on accommodation. This way you can make the booking with a single payment, which will actually be paid in installments to your credit card.
