Rue (Ruta graveolens)

Known for its protective properties, rue is often used in purification and protection rituals from negative energies. The leaves of this plant are hung in the house or used as amulets to ward off the evil eye.

Ritual with rue

Agatha explains a ritual to some fresh leaves of the plant.

“In a quiet place, hold the leaves and focus on your intention for protection and spiritual cleansing. Then, burn the leaves in a safe container, allowing the cleansing smoke to waft into the area. As the smoke rises, visualize any negative energies being loosed and cast out. After the ritual, you can bury the ashes in the ground as a symbol of renewal and continued protection.”

Pepper (Capsicum spp.)

-

It is believed that the pepper has the power to ward off the evil eye and other negative energies. It can be grown in pots or hung in the form of wreaths to protect the home.

To grow chili peppers, choose a sunny position with well-drained soil and neutral pH. Plant the seedlings or seeds about 0.5-1 centimeter deep and keep the soil slightly moist. Fertilize every two weeks with a balanced fertilizer and harvest peppers when they are ripe to promote a higher yield.

Pepper ritual

For a pepper ritual, Agatha tells you to start by selecting some red peppers. Then tie them together with the red thread, visualizing the protection you want to attract. Hang the garland at the entrance door or in key areas of the house. As you do so, focus on the intention to ward off the evil eye and invite positive energies. Repeat the ritual as needed, replacing the peppers when they wilt.
