What is the 7-38-55 rule?
This rule was created by Albert Mehrabian, professor emeritus of psychology at the University of California, Los Angeles, and emphasizes the importance of communication non-verbal, i.e. what the body expresses during interaction.
The standard highlights that words represent only 7% of communication, while tone of voice (including speed and volume) represents 38% and body language (such as movements, facial expressions and eye contact) represents 55%.
However, Fabíola emphasizes that it is important not to interpret this study incorrectly and that the rule applies especially when we express our emotions, indicating that the lack of harmony between verbal and non-verbal communication can influence the perception of emotions.
