Super creamy cheese fondue for a romantic dinner for 2: without special pan, served on bread
A hot meal that brings everyone together around the table, a moment of celebration.

cup = 240 ml, spoon = 15 ml, teaspoon = 10 ml, teaspoon = 5 ml
Ingredients for cheese fondue
– 200 g of Gruyere cheese, coarsely grated
– 200 g coarsely grated Ementhal cheese (or standard Minas cheese)
– 1/2 cup(s) of dry white wine
– 1 clove(s) of peeled garlic, cut in half
– 2 tablespoons of vodka (or cachaça)
– 1 tablespoon(s) of corn starch
– nutmeg to taste. grated
– pepper to taste
– salt to taste (optional)
– Individual round bread of your choice, if you choose to serve it inside the bread. (optional)
Ingredients to accompany
– fresh cauliflower to taste, divided into florets (optional)
– fresh broccoli to taste, separated into florets (optional)
– boiled potatoes to taste, cut into large cubes. (optional)
– Italian bread of your choice, preferably stale, cut into cubes. (or baguettes)
PREPARATION:
- If you prefer, cook the vegetables for the side dish in salted water and drain them.
- Separate all ingredients and utensils for the recipe.
- Coarsely grate the cheeses, place them in a bowl and mix.
- In another bowl, dissolve the cornstarch in the vodka or cachaça and set aside.
- If you intend to serve it in round or rustic bread, remove the crumb. Reserve the crumb for other preparations.
- Rub the garlic clove halves all over the inside of the fondue pot or, if you prefer, the bread pan, and set aside.
- Cut the bread into medium cubes so that each piece has a portion of crumb and crust.
PREPARATION:
Cheese fondue:
- Pour the wine into the fondue pot (optional) or a skillet and place over medium heat to heat.
- Once hot, do not let it boil, reduce the heat to low.
- Add a handful of grated cheese and mix vigorously, to make everything easier, use a wire whisk, until the entire portion of cheese is completely melted and creamy.
- Continue adding cheeses to the pan, a handful at a time, and stirring after each addition until all the cheese is incorporated. The low temperature of the fire and the small portion of cheese added little by little will ensure that the fat from the cheese does not separate and the consistency of the fondue remains creamy.
- Continue on a very low heat and add the corn starch diluted in the vodka or cachaça, stirring so that it is well incorporated.
- Season with pepper and nutmeg.
- Check the salt and add if necessary.
- Turn off the fire.
FINALIZATION AND ASSEMBLY:
- Place the heat source in the center of the table and turn on or light a chafing dish.
- When it is hot, place the fondue pot on top.
- If desired, serve it inside Italian bread.
- Serve accompanied with your favorite ingredients.
