Another thesis to make coffee lovers happy
If there is a drink that helps you be active both inside and outside of sport, it is undoubtedly coffee! Caffeine is the constant focus of scientists’ studies and has maintained its importance with a study by Jozo Grcic, whose research determines the number of cups of coffee before training.
Know the amount of cups of coffee consumed before training
The method of this experiment was the inclusion of 12 research studies, which involved caffeine supplementation in doses of 0.9 to 2 mg/kg. Therefore, these studies were classified as good or excellent methodological quality.
Soon after, the team determined that consuming one to two cups of coffee (1 to 2 mg/kg) can be effective in increasing strength, power and muscular endurance. Therefore, the ideal is to consume 40 to 60 minutes before training.
Keep in mind that coffee intake has ergogenic effects on resistance exercise performance. And, therefore, at the same time, the concept of minimum effective caffeine dose had not yet received a comprehensive review in the literature.
Another addition is that it is unclear how habitual caffeine use plays a role in these types of outcomes. And it is possible that “special” doses are needed to produce the ergogenic effect during exercise.
