Bar Caledonia Launches Tarantino-Style Rye IPA On Tap


In addition to the drink, produced in a rye whiskey barrel, the bar offers new cuisine and special combinations

The night of this Wednesday 21st promises many new things on the field Caledoniaa bar specializing in whiskey and cocktails, ranked 50Best Discovery. The house of partners Maurício Porto and Guilherme Valle promotes the Rye Dayaction that includes the launch of a draft beer in the style of Rye IPA, in collaboration with the craft brewery Tarantino; new sandwich and toast on rye bread, delivered from the kitchen of chef Rodrigo Rizzo; and promotional combos to encourage the public to try the beer accompanied by North American Rye Whiskey.




The launches will take place from 7:00 p.m. and the bar will be attended by Isaac Deutsch, co-founder of Tarantino. To further delve into the topic, there will also be a course on whiskey and beer on August 28, taught by Maurício Porto and Rodrigo Jardini, from the brewery.

Some say that “all whisky was once beer”. It’s no surprise: the processes of producing drinks involve intersections. That’s why Caledonia approached this universe and, in the new chapter with Tarantino, the encounter is celebrated with a Rye IPA, available on tap and in a limited edition of 100 liters.

THE Tarantino and Caledonia Rye Rye IPA (R$20.00 for a 285ml glass), as it is called, has an ABV of 5.6% and is infused with American oak mixed with rye whiskey, which adds an extra layer of complexity to the drink, subtle notes of coconut and wood, and added tannins. The fruity, citrusy and floral aromatic profile, the result of Simcoe, Mosaic and Mistral hops, is supported by a medium intensity malt profile, medium bitterness and soft spicy notes, reminiscent of rye bread. The beer will be on tap at Caledonia and you can also find it at Tarantino, while supplies last.

To live up to Rye Day, the kitchen also presents new products, both made with rye bread: the sandwich with shredded short rib, caramelized onion in Bourbon, smoked mayonnaise and persimmon tomato (R$ 55.00); and the toast of Parma, brie cheese and figs, with pepper jelly (R$ 47.00).

Also, on August 21, to help immerse yourself in the mix of beer and whiskey, the bar is offering, between 7:00 pm and 9:00 pm, special prices on two combos that include beer: Jim Beam Rye + Rye Rye IPA + Pork Rib Sandwich (R$81.00) and High West Rye + Rye Rye IPA + Parma Toast (R$95.40).

The following week, on the night of August 28, the partnership between Caledonia and Tarantino is completed with a course on whiskey and beer, on the second floor of the bar, starting at 7:00 p.m. To explain the meeting between the two worlds, Maurício Porto welcomes Rodrigo Jardini, from the brewery, to lead together an experience full of theory and practice, with tastings of three whiskeys (Eagle Rare, Laphroaig 10 and High West Double Rye), paired with three Tarantino beers. Tarantino & Caledonia Rye Rye IPA is included among the brewery labels that will be tasted in the room. The class costs R$200.00 and can be purchased through the Caledonia profile on Instagram.
