The first phase of voting will take place from September 12 to 29; the public will be able to vote at any bakery in the city in nine categories
Who doesn’t love to eat one? bread on the crispy plate and have a fresh coffee at the bakery? And how about a dream come true to go with it? If you don’t have your favorite yet, get ready to participate in a “marathon” to vote, from this Thursday (12) until September 29 in the 1st phase of Padocaria-SP 2024, which is in its 4th edition.
In total, the public will be able to vote in nine categories: Best Coffee, Best Bread, Best Naturally Fermented Bread, Best Grilled Bread, Best Oven Pizza, Best Cold Service, Best Dream, Best Chapeiros Team and Best Bakery in São Paulo. (2nd phase).
From October 11 to 27, it will be time to choose the best bakery among the five most voted in the first phase in the Center and in the North, South, East and West zones. The three best voted in each category will be revealed on November 7, and the name of the best bakery in São Paulo will also be announced.
“In addition to seeing a boom in bakeries specializing in naturally fermented bread in all regions of the city, we have noticed that traditional bakeries are also adopting this ancestral way of making bread. We therefore think that the time has come to create this category,” said journalist Miguel Icassatti, co-creator of Padocaria-SP along with chef Eduardo Maya. “And the dream is the dessert that best symbolizes the padocas of São Paulo,” he added.
Voting, which is open to the public, must be done via the website www.padocariasp.com.brThe public can vote for their favorite São Paulo bakery and select several locations for each category.
“We know that people in São Paulo often like bread from one bakery and grilled bread from another. This shows the diversity and richness of bakeries,” says Miguel Icassatti.

Another new feature of Padocaria-SP 2024 is the denomination of the bakeries “Hors Concours”, that is, the establishments that have been champions of the competition three times in the same category. “They will be honored and recognized for their excellence, as happens in awards around the world, giving the opportunity to new homes. But they will be able to compete normally in other categories and will return to the competition in 2025”, explains Eduardo Maya.
In the second phase, a technical jury also visits the finalists incognito and their vote will have a 50% weight on the result.
“It is gratifying to enhance and promote the culture of pastry shops in São Paulo. We are happy to see so many people involved,” says Eduardo Maya.
