Russian ballerina Anastasia Volochkova is spending nearly 1 million rubles on a luxury trip to the Maldives after an airport delay caused her to miss her initial flight.
Details reported by Russian news outlet Gazeta.Ru reveal that the performer is staying at the five-star Noku Maldives resort. She selected a beach villa featuring a personal swimming pool, which costs 828 dollars, or approximately 69,615 rubles, per night with breakfast included.
Her vacation is scheduled to last roughly two weeks before she returns to work. According to the performance schedule published on her official website, her live shows begin on August 27 and August 28. Based on that timeline, a 14-night stay at the resort will cost Volochkova around 980,000 rubles for accommodation.
Speaking to Gazeta.Ru before her departure, Volochkova remarked on the expense of traveling to the tropical destination. She said that a holiday in the Maldives is very expensive and added that flight tickets are also high in price.
Fan encounter causes missed flight
Volochkova explained that she planned the getaway following a series of free concerts she performed across Russia. However, her trip suffered an early setback when fans approached her inside the airport terminal to ask for photographs prior to boarding.
The ballerina said she moved to the side after posing for photos so she could wait peacefully for the boarding line to advance. Despite remaining right by the departure gate, she failed to board the aircraft in time.
She eventually arranged travel to the island resort following the incident. Upon arriving at the destination, the dancer published a candid video recorded during her stay.
