Easy Sausage Pie: The Right Option for a Cheap and Practical Dinner

Easy Sausage Pie

Time: 1 hour

Performance: 8 servings

Ingredients:

  • 4 eggs
  • 1 cup oil (tea).
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 3 cups (tea) of wheat flour
  • 1 tablespoon baking powder
  • Margarine and wheat flour for greasing
  • Cream cheese to cover
  • Straw potatoes for dusting

Filling

  • 2 tablespoons olive oil
  • 1 chopped onion
  • 2 cloves of garlic, crushed
  • 4 chopped tomatoes
  • 10 boiled sausages sliced
  • 2 tablespoons ketchup
  • 1 tablespoon mustard
  • Salt, black pepper and chopped green chili pepper to taste
  • 1 cup (tea) of ricotta

Preparation method:

  1. For the filling, in a pan, over medium heat, heat the olive oil.
  2. Sauté the onion and garlic for 3 minutes.
  3. Add the tomato and sauté for 5 minutes or until it begins to break down and form a sauce.
  4. Add the sausage, ketchup, mustard and let boil for 2 minutes.
  5. Season with salt, pepper, green chillies and let cool.
  6. For the dough, beat the eggs, oil, milk, salt, flour and yeast in a blender.
  7. Place half of the dough in a greased and floured 9 x 12 inch (22 x 30 cm) pan.
  8. Spread the filling, spoon over the cream cheese and cover with the remaining dough.
  9. Bake in a preheated medium oven (180ºC) for 35 minutes or until golden brown.
  10. Let it cool, cover it with cream cheese and sprinkle it with the straw potatoes. Serve.
