The jury, made up of education professionals, evaluates the indications based on criteria such as the relevance of work, the external recognition, the impact generated and the consistency of the action. The winner receives a package of prizes. They are: official certificate, a notebook offered by Acer, a smartphone, a voucher for an amount of $ 5,000.00 (five thousand reais), a training track of the creative schools and the annual signature of all subjects+, as well as the articles offered by the Cultural and Virtual Bookcase of Ciranda. The organization will honor five other educators with honor mentions, certificate delivery, training course, sponsor articles and $ 500 (five hundred reais).

In 2024, Cleide da Silva Magesk, Portuguese language teacher at Ciep Filinto Müller Brasil-Cina (RJ), was elected teacher of the year with the “Stories” project. An anti-racist proposal that enhances the Afro-Brazilian culture and ancestors through the study and practice of braids. Selected from 831 teachers appointed by all of Brazil, Cleide had his work recognized on the day of teachers (15 October), strengthening the way in which school can be a living space for identity, respect and transformation. In addition to the main prize, five teachers have received mentions of honor.
