The expert talks about the difficulties in finding love and building a lasting relationship
Although dating apps make it easier to meet new people, finding the perfect partner has been a challenge for many single men and women. According to relationship expert, researcher and matchmaker Claudya Toledo, what has brought about the change in this scenario is that “people are becoming increasingly demanding in their choices, privileging specific qualities and profiles, which makes it difficult to find a compatible partner ” .
This search for perfection in the partner is, in some cases, making it impossible for some people to tolerate rhythms and life goals different from their own, thus preventing the relationship from evolving into a lasting relationship. “For a relationship to work, you both need to be on the same page, or know how to make concessions to try to overcome the obstacles you will encounter along the way”, underlines the expert.
Difficulty finding love
The digital age, with its relational applications, created by the candidate’s vision, has driven the rapid analysis of many profiles, making it possible to quickly start a conversation. But for the match to be positive and accurate, and for the person to find someone who has the same desires and goals, the challenge is to make the algorithm work in his favor.
“Today all social media work like a register and in each of them you need to know how to position yourself so that your flirting bears fruit and you find the ideal partner”, explains the expert. According to her, the options for living as a couple are countless, as long as the choices are mostly shared and both parties feel comfortable within this relationship.
The fragility of love relationships
Furthermore, another factor to consider is that some of these encounters with the app are reported as negative experiences, which did not meet expectations or even as rejection, when there is no post-encounter reciprocity, which ends up undermining the users’ self-esteem which is why it becomes so necessary to find the right profile. After some less than positive experiences, this ends up creating animosity when relating to people met on the apps.
“There is a fragility in current emotional relationships that end as quickly as they begin, because at the slightest red light people decide to cut ties. These are the so-called liquid relationships,” says Toledo. Psychological factors also prove decisive in the search for love. As the relationship begins to stabilize, some feel uncomfortable, considering that from this point on a real commitment to the other will be necessary. This reality shock begins when the novelty wears off and one must accept and live with the flaws of others.
“At this moment we realize that it will be necessary to donate, interact with family, friends and everything that is related to the couple’s routine; changes that many are not prepared to face. Sometimes we build barriers in the past that make it difficult to open space for the new, it is necessary to discover the factors that act negatively and modify them”, concludes Claudya.
