The image of the Virgin of the Valley is part of the six kilometer Caminho da Fé pilgrimage route
Argentina obtained a Catholic monument dedicated to the Virgen del Valle (or Virgin of the Valley). At 52 meters high, the image surpasses Christ the Redeemer in Rio de Janeiro.
Virgen del Valle in Argentina
The image in the province of Catamarca is 52 meters high. Compared to Christ the Redeemer, the advantage is great, given that the Brazilian statue measures 30 meters with another eight dedicated to the pedestal.
The image of the Virgin of the Valley is located on the outskirts of the city of El Rodeo, 36 km from San Fernando del Valle de Catamarca, the capital of the province.
Devotion of the Argentines
The relationship between the Argentine people and the Virgin dates back more than 400 years. According to the Vatican, the cult began after the discovery of an image of the Madonna in the Choya cave in 1620. Since then, numerous miracles have been attributed to her.
