According to the report, Brazil is the fourth most stressed country in the world “World Mental Health Day 2024”published by the Ipsos Institute. These data reflect a growing concern among the Brazilian population about mental health, with 77% of Brazilians recognizing the importance of taking care of this area of their lives.
The importance of this topic for Brazilians has increased significantly in recent years, especially during and after the Covid-19 pandemic, when mental problems have become more evident and discussed in the country.

According to research conducted by Ipsos, concern about mental health has increased among Brazilians in recent years. In 2018, only 18% of respondents identified mental health as the top health problem in Brazil. In 2024, that number has grown to 54%. This continued growth indicates a growing awareness and demand for greater resources and attention to mental health in the country.
The study interviewed 23,274 adults, aged 18 to 74, from 31 different countries. The interviews were conducted online between July 21 and August 4, 2023, covering several regions of the world, including Europe, the Americas, Asia and South Africa. This global scenario allows a comparative vision on how stress and mental health are perceived in different cultures and economies.
The global stress scenario: Brazil in the spotlight
Globally, 62% of the surveyed population reported having at least once experienced levels of stress that affected their daily lives. This data shows that mental health is a global concern, with countries such as Chile, Sweden and Australia leading the list of concerns, while Brazil ranks ninth.
The research highlights important differences between generations and genders. For example, women of Generation Z face a significant impact of stress on their daily routine, more than men of the same generation. This pattern may reflect the different social and emotional pressure women experience compared to men.
