A tourist city due to low temperatures and located about 212 km from the capital Florianópolis, Urupema received the title of National Cold Capital in 2021.

In fact, on June 30, the city recorded -7.2ºC, the lowest temperature in Brazil in 2024.

As one of the snowiest and coldest cities in the state of Santa Catarina, it is known for tourism. In winter, all rooms tend to be fully booked, especially on dates when snow is expected.

According to the Santa Catarina government portal, 42 accommodations are registered in the municipality, including inns, hotels, country houses, cabins, bed and breakfasts, chalets, farms, farms, farms and campsites.

Morro das Antenas, for example, is one of the highest points in Urupema and one of the best places to enjoy panoramic views of the city.

The panoramic point is located at 1,750 meters above sea level, eight kilometers from the city, on SC 112. The scenery is that of frozen vegetation and, with a bit of luck, snow.
