Using social media, the singer from Bahia said that, due to her illness, she has given up opportunities and left the spotlight aside. “For me it’s a turning point [falar sobre o assunto]. I went through a very difficult time and few people knew it. I spent six, seven years in a very severe depression,” he revealed.
“With this I cut back on a lot of things, I cut down my hours, I stopped doing a TV show, I lost a lot of things, a lot of opportunities, because of everything I was experiencing,” he said in a video.
He explains that he didn’t leave the house and often didn’t even get out of bed. “I would go to shows — I never missed my schedule — and finish and go home and it was a daily struggle trying to do the minimum,” he said.
“It took me a long time to arrive at a diagnosis, a long time to test drugs and therapies (conventional and otherwise), with the support of my friends and my mother. They were moments I wouldn’t wish on anyone. After so many years I feel alive again, I feel stimulated to create and delve into my work”, she celebrated.
Alinne also took advantage of the moment to demystify some misconceptions about the disease and was grateful to have had a support network at that time to help her get through the difficult times. “It can happen to anyone. It’s not a lack of shame, it’s not a lack of God, it’s not laziness,” he highlighted.
“I only had bad thoughts. I have to thank my psychiatrist and my therapist, my mother and everyone who came in and understood my mind. During this time, my only concern was to stay alive, even if I didn’t want to, because depression takes away this desire,” she said.
He claims to be able to produce and implement the plans. “I wanted to make this video because I will be doing a TV show on Sunday, which I haven’t been able to do for years due to anxiety and panic attacks. I’m very excited, like I haven’t been in a long time,” she said.
“If you are going through something similar, please don’t give up. How many times have I thought about giving up… And I’m here to thank you, for being available, for getting out of bed. Don’t give up, no. Talk to your friends, talk about the topic, don’t let this disease stop you,” he concluded.
