The singer Preta Gil He is already recovering after undergoing further surgery. On Friday the 8th, the artist, who is being treated for cancer, took to social media to tell the public that he would have to undergo surgery to remove a kidney stone.
Back in the hospital room, Preta received a wonderful surprise from the medical team responsible for her care. Through her Instagram stories, the daughter of Gilberto Gil shared a video in which nurses enter the venue with a bouquet of flowers made from balloons and a balloon wishing the celebrity a good recovery.
“Love from the oncology nurses and technicians! Thanks girls, I loved my flowers“, wrote the singer in the caption of the publication. She also explained that there is no permission to bring real flowers into the room and, therefore, the bouquet was improvised.
It is worth mentioning that, due to the new surgery, Preta had to stop chemotherapy against tumors in the lymph nodes, peritoneum and ureter. The artist explained to followers that the surgery was carried out after reporting severe pain in his pelvis and kidneys.
“I arrived here [no hospital] and my GP and oncologist saw me and decided I needed to have a CT scan to see where the pain was coming from. And it turned out that my double J had an obstruction. We had to change the double J. I had surgery at 5 in the morning and I’m fine, I feel good, I have no pain“, he said, revealing the intervention.
“We had to stop chemotherapy because we couldn’t continue, but this won’t make any difference to the treatment. I’ll stay here until Monday, then they’ll discharge me and I’ll come back here on the 20th to do the tumor tests again and then we’ll make new plans, what will be done, radio, more chemo, surgery… That’s everything for us. You will know after the 20th“, concluded Preta Gil.
Preta Gil resumed cancer treatment in August
In August this year, Preta Gil shared with her fans that she has resumed cancer treatment. In January 2023, the singer was diagnosed with bowel cancer and underwent extensive treatment, which included surgical procedures to remove cancer cells and rebuild her intestines.
The cancer was in remission. But after he was admitted to hospital for routine tests, doctors decided to resume treatment. Days later, he revealed he had four new tumors in his body.
“My cancer is back. He returned to 4 different places. I have two lymph nodes, I have a metastasis that is in the peritoneum and I have a lesion in the ureter. I came for routine tests when all of us – me, doctors, family and friends – were surprised by this new diagnosis. It’s more common than we think, but it’s still a big scare“he said.
