The president stressed the need for a “balanced relationship”
After participating in a series of engagements this Saturday (7) in Beijing, including a meeting with the Chinese Prime Minister, Li Qiang, the President of the Italian Republic, Sergio Mattarella, argued that the Asian country’s barriers to Italian products must be “removed.”
Mattarella declared that economic exchanges between the two nations have doubled in the space of six years, as well as analyzing that “there is a growth in the desire for mutual collaboration”.

“China is Italy’s first economic partner in Asia. The constructive spirit that animates us calls for a balanced relationship that allows, by removing the barriers that hinder access to the Chinese market for Italian excellence, to satisfy the expectations of Chinese consumers, who are increasingly demanding and attentive to quality”, he added.
Finally, the Italian president stated that “a fluid, responsible and in-depth dialogue between Beijing and the European Union in the political and strategic sphere would represent great value”.
“No one in Europe, much less in Italy, imagines a moment of protectionism. In line with this approach, we believe that situations and procedures relating to a commercial sector, which aim to achieve fair and correct competition, with the aim of mutually achieving beneficial, it should not have an impact on business practices in other sectors,” he concluded. .
