Cod cake: make the snack crunchy and irresistible

THE Fried cod meatball It is a very traditional snack in Portugal. With colonization, this was one of the first dishes to arrive in Brazil.




Although it seems like a complex recipe, the only difficult part of the dish is desalting the cod. Once this step is completed, the delicious portion is ready in just 1 hour.

Fried cod meatball

Time: 1h (+8h soaking)

Performance: 45 units

Difficulty: easy

Ingredients:

  • 300 g of cod flakes
  • 500 g of potatoes in their skins
  • 1 egg
  • 2 tablespoons of wheat flour
  • 2 tablespoons chopped green chili pepper
  • 1 tablespoon fresh rosemary
  • Salt to taste
  • Frying oil
  • Lemon slices to accompany

Preparation method:

  1. Place the cod in a bowl, cover it with water and leave it to soak for 8 hours, changing the water 3 times during this time. Drain.
  2. Cook the potato in water until it becomes soft.
  3. Drain and pass while still hot through a citrus juicer.
  4. Place it in a bowl, add the desalted cod, the egg, the wheat flour, the green chili pepper, the rosemary, the onion, season with salt and mix.
  5. Form the ravioli with the help of 2 spoons and fry them, little by little, in hot oil until golden.
  6. Drain on absorbent paper and serve the rosemary cod cake accompanied by lemon slices.
