According to Eleonora Galvão, nutritionist at the Instituto Nutrindo Idealis, this effect of avocado can be attributed to the monounsaturated fatty acids present in its composition, which help to reduce LDL cholesterol – the so-called bad cholesterol – and favoring its increase HDL – good cholesterol -, preventing the accumulation of abdominal fat.

“This healthy fat also affects satiety, delaying gastric emptying and reducing excessive calorie consumption throughout the day,” she says.
