The list with 50 best restaurants in Latin America it was announced on Tuesday evening, the 26th, during an awards ceremony held at the Copacabana Palace, in Rio. In total, nine Brazilian restaurants appear on the list: 2 from RJ and 7 from São Paulo from the renowned Latin America’s 50 Best. Restaurants.
In seventh place was Lasai in Rio, run by chef Rafa Costa e Silva and his wife Malena Cardiel. The restaurant recently moved into a cozy, intimate space that seats just 10 guests at the L-shaped chef’s counter, giving diners a prime view of the chef and his team at work.
Casa do Porco, in São Paulo, is again on the list and appears in 15th place. With chef Ivan Ralston in the kitchen, the 2-Michelin-starred Tuju placed 16th.
Evvai from São Paulo came in 20th place, followed in 21st place by Oteque from Rio de Janeiro, owned by award-winning chef Alberto Landgraf.
Nelita and Mexican Metzi, both from Sao Paulo, occupy 26th and 27th place. Chef Tássia Magalhães, of Nelita, works with an all-female team and serves signature Italian cuisine.
In 35th place Maní by chef and “MasterChef” judge Helena Rizzo. Sao Paulo-based Japanese restaurant Kotori rounds out the top 50.
The Latin American champion was the famous Don Julio, from Buenos Aires, Argentina.
