Alcohol consumption is associated with alcoholism, a condition that can cause illness and fatalities
For centuries the wine it was seen as an extremely healthy drink. At the time of the ancient Egyptians this drink had important applications in medicine, and during the Middle Ages monks used wine as a method of treating illnesses, as it was considered “more hygienic” than water.
Nowadays, however, this does not seem to be so clear. While some studies support it drinking wine can be helpful for some people, other research suggests there is no positive effect from drinking alcohol. So who is right?
Alcohol-related problems
Although it may seem that these studies contradict and cancel each other out, the truth is that all this research allows science to improve its objectives. It is thanks to this research that we can better understand what happens to our bodies, not only when we “overdo” alcohol, but also when we drink “a little”.
We know that abuse can have serious physical and mental health implications. The consequences, in addition to serious diseases, such as liver cancer OR cirrhosisthey are also felt socially. Not to mention the countless – and often tragic – road accidents caused by drunk people.
