Why did women in the USSR love scarves so much – 2 main reasons

It was almost impossible to imagine a Soviet woman without a headscarf. What was so good about this accessory?

Surely your mother or grandmother has a whole collection of various scarves, because it was almost impossible to imagine a Soviet woman without this accessory. They were tied under the chin, on the back of the head, or wrapped around the neck of girls and women of various social statuses.

So where does all-Union love come from?

reason one

After the revolution, the hat, a symbol of idleness and carelessness, took a back seat. The scarf came to replace it – an easy-to-use cap that allows you to remove hair so that it does not interfere with the work process. The red-colored scarf has completely become the personification of the new value system and the banner of the revolution. This accessory became a continuation of the ideology of all Soviet citizens.

reason two

As we have already written, hats faded into the background, and Soviet women had to find a replacement for this accessory. The scarf turned out to be the only public headdress, while, for example, it was almost impossible to get headbands or hairpins. By the way, the simplest fabrics for scarves were used – other materials were simply not available. But Soviet women managed to make it their own chip, turning the headscarf into an iconic headdress of the USSR era.
