The journalist is 40 days in a coma and has amputated members after surgery to correct the night apnea

Julio Cesar Trindade, 35 years old, was still a father in the midst of all this and he regretted having lost the birth of his son

When the DJ and the journalist Julio Cesar Trindade35, entered the Casa de Portugal hospital, in Rio de Janeiro, on May 22, 2024, he believed it would be discharged the following day. His hospitalization was to make a Orthognaatic surgery and solve a complaint of Night apnea. But Julio came home only more than 70 days later, after the past 40 of them unconscious, in coma– AND No part of the members, amputated.

“I lost part of the fingers of my right hand, the fingers of the right foot, which is responsible for the balance and the left leg, and was deaf from the left ear,” he says.

Now, Julio has decided to go to court against the hospital unit and Brat Saúde, his operator of the health plan, to ask for a repair. What is known is that the amputations have been caused by a widespread hospital infection, the bacteria of Klebsiella Pneumoniae, but the journalist believes that there was negligence on the part of the medical team.

“They had to have measured my vital signs. They claim to have measured, but my lung evolved from 100% oxygenation to 80% very fast to someone who has checked the vital signs every hour, as it should be done. When I said I was short of breath, they gave me the Rivotril, saying that I was having an anxiety crisis and that before I treated myself with Rivotril. I have never taken a controlled medicine in my life ”, exemplifies.

Julio says that he and his family decided to hire a private doctor to evaluate him, who was not part of the hospital team. The professional recommended that the journalist was put in an artificial lung and guided his transfer to another health unit.

But, according to the lawyer Maria Isabel Tancredo, who acts in the event, it was necessary to intent on the health plan to authorize the transfer.

“Unfortunately, this is a scenario that repeats itself and produces more victims like Julio. Families, with much effort, pay the health plans for, as they need more, find two doors: one, closed, the negative constant of the treatments necessary for patients; And the other leads to precarious institutions, in which patients trust to be credited by the health plan, but who exhibit them with serious risks and failures, “says the lawyer.

THE Earth He searched for the house of the hospital, head of the Casa de Portugal hospital, to comment on the case, but did not get a return.

Bradesco Saúde said, for note, that he does not comment on the cases in progress in court.

New journey

From all that Julio has lost, nothing is comparable to the sadness of not having been with his wife Maíra, in the delivery room at the time of his son’s birth. The arrival of Little John in the world took place after much planning, but also coincided with one of the most difficult moments for his father.

Julio became a father immediately after being subjected to amputation

“The moment came when we wanted, at the right time and I always dreamed of being a father. We continue to think how it will take my son for the first time on his lap, to have that contact there. I could not follow his birth because I was still colonized with bacteria. So, I followed Videochamada and this is something that hurts me, “says Julio.

In addition to the discoveries of the same paternity, Julio claims to face “the challenges of a amputated father”. “I lose some agility, but apart from that, I think I am the best possible father for him,” he says.

To adapt to amputations, the journalist now uses a prosthesis in the left leg and has had to make changes in the house where he lives. Estimation of having spent about $ 150 thousand, between various treatments and adaptations. Even the expense must remain constant.

“The prosthesis has a period of 4 or 5 years. So, from time to time, I will have to change the prosthesis, it has a very high value. And in addition to this, I was unemployed, I live with benefits for the disease and I lost the quality of life. I think the birth of the child is something that does not measure in values. What I hope is justice in the face of everything I have suffered, “says Julio explaining why he decided to bring the question to the judiciary.
