  • According to rumors, the prototype of Cheburashka was… a man! The hero was drawn together with one of the artists of Soyuzmultfilm – Rosalia Zelma.
  • Cheburashka owes its name to the word “cheburahnutsya” – to fall. Eduard Uspensky heard it from a friend whose little girl, in front of adults, fell to the ground several times, entangled in a long fur coat.
  • Cheburashka has an official birthday: August 20. Eduard Nikolaevich chose this date because on August 20 a national action was organized in favor of orphans.
  • Cheburashka’s name has been translated into local languages ​​of different countries. In the UK, its name is Topl, in Germany – Plumps, in Sweden – Drutten and in Finland – Muksis, in Lithuania – Kulverstukas.
  • The second cartoon about Cheburashka was almost sealed off by censorship: officials felt that the pioneers turned out to be narrow-minded. The claim was removed when the writers added the line: “The best are taken for pioneers”.
