Have you had weight? Your brain can be guilty; understand

Canada researchers discovered that the central brain region can be related to the consumption of fat -rich diets

If you are not able to control weight gain, your brain could have a great responsibility for this. This is because a recent discovery revealed a connection between the inflammation of the hypothalamus and the consumption of diets rich in fat.

The researchers of the Memorial University of Terranova, Canada, noted that the hypothalamus, a region of the central brain in regulating the energy balance and the feeling of hunger, is a crucial component in this vicious circle.

The study, published in the Journal of the Acts of the National Academy of Sciences (PNA), revealed that the fat -rich diets trigger the activation of the prostaglandina E2 (PGE2), a molecule involved in the immune system and in the regulation of fever. Pge2, in turn, stimulates the MHC hormone in the hypothalamus, triggering an intense feeling of hunger.

The brain and obesity

According to the post HPD in neuroscience, Dr. Fabiano de Abreu Addla, the new study leads new elements to a relationship widely known for neuroscience. “The close relationship between the brain and obesity was already the objective of several studies as one of the main factors for the development of the disease, but these new results lead new details that help to understand this process,” he says

According to the expert, the hypothalamus is an important brain as it plays a central role in regulating essential functions. This is the case of body temperature, sleep, emotions, thirst and hunger.

“According to the study, inflammation in the region, combined with a diet rich in fat, helps to trigger obesity. However, further studies are needed to identify how it is possible to interfere or reverse this process. This would bring great benefits to the treatment of obesity with a neuroscientific approach”

It is important to consider the brain in obesity treatments

According to the surgeon of bariatric surgery, dr. Fabio Rodrigues, the treatment of obesity should not consist only with the procedures aimed at weight loss, but in a more complete approach.

“One of the most common errors on obesity is to believe that only weight loss will solve the situation. Therefore, bariatric surgery itself, one of the main treatments for the disease, not only considers the weight of the patient but different aspects,” he says.

According to him, a multidisciplinary approach to each case is essential to avoid a new weight gain. “For the patient to have better results, psychologists, neuroscientists, nutrologists, etc., are fundamental throughout the process,” adds the doctor.
