Is it bad to skip breakfast? The nutritionist replies

Among the haste of everyday life, many people cannot stop tasting breakfast calmly and end up jumping to the meal or eating something that goes to work.

This apparently harmless practice can have negative long -term health consequences.

“Breakfast jump can cause a variety of health damage. The lack of this meal increases hunger during the day, promotes caloric and unbalanced food choices and can lead to weight increase”, warns Amanda Figueiredo, clinical nutritionist of USP.

The lack of meal can also cause oscillations in blood sugar. “Ampera concentration and mental performance, as well as compromising the intake of important nutrients such as fibers, vitamins and minerals,” says the expert.

In the long term, this can affect the metabolism and make it difficult to control the appetite. “It is worth remembering that each person is unique and some people feel good without breakfast – the practice can be valid as long as the other meals of the day are balanced and nutrients,” he concludes.
