Avial influence is an infectious disease that can reach birds (chickens, geese, among others) and even human, although it is rarer. This Friday (16), Brazil confirmed the first case of avian influence in a commercial farm.
The case took place in the city of Montenegro, in Rio Grande do Sul. With this, the health and commercial protocols are valid for internal operations and with other countries and have generated concern in many people. Is it dangerous to eat chicken and eggs? Is there a risk of contamination?
According to the Ministry of Agriculture and Grounding, the disease is not transmitted by the consumption of poultry and eggs.
“You can continue to eat chicken and eggs if you have adequate security measures,” says Renata Branger, an infectious.
He explained that this virus is highly contagious among birds. “For humans, this transmission is very rare. We have 900 cases all over the world since 2003, without any human infection for humans, everyone has taken the birds,” said the specialty on his YouTube channel.
One of the strains that causes the most poultry and rapid transmission has been identified in this Rio Grande Do Sul Farm. The state is the largest bird manufacturer and is on the path of animal migration and the transmission usually takes place through secretions and feces.
“It has been quickly diagnosed and health measures have also been taken quickly. When this happens, we must notify the case … At this moment, the impact is not on human health, it is for the economy of Brazil,” added the doctor.
According to the doctor, if the cases of avian influence increase throughout the country, it could have a mutation of the virus that can go from man to man. “But at this moment this is not a problem,” he said.
The risk of influence on avian influence through Brazil is real and important to ascertain this for economic reasons. “But for human health, we don’t have this concern right now.”
The professional states that the protection measures must be suitable for those who work on the farm. “If you look at some kind of birds lying on the floor, call the authorities, do not take the bird because this case is also happening in free birds,” he concluded.
