May celebrates two stars of Brazilian gastronomy: Pudim (22/05) and Café (24/05). Together they form a delicious dessert
Brazilian cuisine is certainly very rich and gives us incredibly tasty dishes, like the coffee pudding. And in May these two flavors, undeniably passionate, are honored: May 22, day of pudding and 24 May, National Coffee and Barista Day. More than coincidence, this proximity of celebrations highlights one of the most traditional rituals of the Brazilian table: coffee with pudding.
Puddo: a dessert that every family loves!
This gesture, which goes far beyond the simple drinking dessert, brings the essence of an urban and emotional ritual, from generation to generation. The origin is in the Sunday lunches of Brazilian families, where the condensed milk pudding, made with love the day before, reigned as a dessert, followed by a coffee just set to end the meal with affection and taste.
Hungry group bar – Bar Jobim, a village girl and an agricultural girl, is located in San Paolo and offer a menu of the soul of the Carioca Tavern, where coffee with pudding is a sacred ritual. Dessert and coffee are served daily in the units.

Coffee grandmother’s pudding recipe
Ingredients:
Syrup
- 1 and 1/2 cup of sugar
- 1 tablespoon of soluble coffee diluted in 1/2 cup of hot water. Here is the secret, dilute soluble coffee in water.
Coffee pudding
- 8 eggs
- 2 cans or 790 g of condensed milk
- 2 milk cans. Use the same can of condensed milk to measure
- 1/2 cup (tea) or 45 g of 50% powder chocolate
- 2 tablespoons or 20 g of soluble coffee
Preparation:
For the preparation of the syrup, in the first place, melt 1 and 1/2 cup of sugar in a pan over medium heat, until it is in caramel. Then lower the heat and incorporate 1 tablespoon of soluble coffee diluted in 1/2 cup of hot water. Mix for about 6 minutes or until the sugar dissolves. Turn off the heat, transfer this coffee syrup to a shape of the hole in the middle, 22 cm for 8 cm in height and set aside.
Already to prepare the coffee pudding, first, put 8 eggs, 2 condensed milk cans, 2 milk cans, 1/2 cup of chocolate powder and 2 tablespoons of soluble coffee. Beat for about 2 minutes or until it forms a homogeneous mixture. Turn off the blender and transfer the mixture to the shape, which is already with the coffee syrup. Then cook preheated from 140 to 150 degrees for about 1 hour and 20 minutes. Remove from the oven, leave to cool and serve.
