The European summer air chaos is expected to continue until August with interruptions of pilots and other employees
Airlines have not yet had time to recover from the pandemic and, therefore, are working with smaller crews than necessary to meet the strong demand for summer destinations in the Northern Hemisphere. For airline employees, this is synonymous with long and stressful working hours, as well as poor working conditions and often low wages. No wonder, strikes are breaking out in Europe and impacting the lives of those traveling on vacation. See, below, the strikes scheduled for the month of August:

Spain
The pilots of EasyJet there will be three strikes of 72 hours each throughout the month. They will take place from 12 to 14 August, from 19 to 21 and from 27 to 29 August. All routes operated by the airline to national or international destinations from Spain must be affected.
Other strikes are organized by unions representing Ryanair’s crew in Spain. According to the organizations, during each week from August 8, 2022 to January 7, 2023, some employees will stop working from Monday to Thursday. The action is expected to have an impact on flights to or from Alicante, Barcelona, Madrid, Malaga, Palma de Mallorca and Seville. in any case, the Ryanair stated that the strike will not cause disruption to operations.
Portugal
Two unions of civil aviation workers in Portugal have announced a strike between 19 and 21 August that will affect all nine airports managed by ANA. They are Lisbon, Porto, Faro, Madeira, Beja, Flores, Horta, Ponta Delgada and Santa Maria.
Germany
Lufthansa pilots voted in favor of a strike that could disrupt many of the airline’s routes in and out of Germany. However, the strike is still in the realm of threats and the exact dates have not been announced – we will update the page when we have more information.
