Specialist warns that poorly sanitized or poorly preserved brushes can affect the health of the whole body
The teeth toothbrush is an indispensable object for maintaining oral health. What few know is that if you don’t have in adequate conditions, the dental brush can transmit and cause a series of diseases that affect health. In addition, it is interesting to note that the oral cavity has thousands of bacteria that can multiply within 250 times within 24 hours if not brushed.
Therefore, a brush without adequate care can threaten the health of the whole body without the individual suspects the cause of contamination, says dr. Mauro Macedo, member of the Brazilian Academy of Dentistry (Acbo). According to the expert, the brushes that are not adequately sanitized become a niche of bacteria that can transmit, for example, pneumonia and even hepatitis.
Just a drop in patient’s immunity, together with a wound in the mouth or a simple gingivitis to increase the risk. This is because the pathogenic agents present in the brush from poorly attentive teeth can reach the circulatory current and stay in any organ of the human body, including noble organs such as the heart, causing serious damage to health.
Habits that help preserve the toothbrush
Among the essential care of the toothbrush to avoid contamination and illness, dr. Mauro cites 7 healthy habits and 7 more habits that can ruin the toothbrush. Check:
1) Hands well washed before taking the brush, since the dirty hand can bring germs and bacteria to the brush;
2) Wash well after use in running water to avoid the folder or dirt between the bristles;
3) After washing, beat the brush in the sink to remove excess water;
4) Spray the bristle brush brush and head, with chlorhexidine solution (bactericidal solution) to eliminate opportunistic bacteria;
5) Manually exchange the brush every 2 months, at most – this avoids the accumulation and proliferation of microorganisms;
6) immediately discard the brush if it has a few deformed bristles, altered color or its base. Change for another brush and always soft;
7) Keep the brushes in a ventilated place and away from the bathroom.
Habits that can contaminate the dental brush
1) dry in towels or cards;
2) Use non -specific disinfectants to clean the dental brush;
3) Keep the brush next to other brushes;
4) use the brush in other regions of the non -oral body;
5) Share the use of brushes with other people in the family. This is because habit can transmit periodontitis, gingivitis, cavity, diarrhea, halitosis, influence, pharyngitis, covid-19, ear infections, meningitis, pneumonia and even heart disease;
6) uses hats and cases, since brushes maintain humidity on the bristles that favor the proliferation of mushrooms and bacteria present;
