Four people are poisoned after eating a kale-like plant in MG

Four people suffered food poisoning last Wednesday, 8th, after consuming a plant similar to kale, on a farm, in the city of Patrocínio, Minas Gerais. According to firefighters, the victims ingested a plant popularly known as Good smokeafter confusing it with kale and using it to prepare lunch.

The firefighters reported that, upon arriving at the scene, they found all the victims conscious, showing signs of general malaise, muscle pain and difficulty moving. During treatment, however, three of them progressed to cardiorespiratory arrest, all of which were successfully reversible through resuscitation maneuvers.

This Thursday 9th in an interview on local radio FM modulethe municipal health secretary of Patrocínio, Luciana Rocha, updated the health status of the hospitalized patients. According to her, three people are hospitalized in the intensive care unit of the Casa Santa, intubated, in serious conditions.

Only one of them, a 67-year-old man, had slight impairments and is hospitalized in the UPA ward, conscious and oriented. There is also documentation of a 1 year and 6 month old child who was taken by military agents and the Mobile Emergency Assistance Service (Samu), but the child did not eat the plant and was not poisoned.
