The disease affecting millions of people around the world will be one of the themes of the event in Sao Paulo

THE burnout syndrome, better known as Burnout, affects millions of people around the world and is recognized as an occupational disease by the WHO (World Health Organization). It is critical for business managers to understand and know how to identify this disease to ensure a better work environment and employee well-being.
This is one of the issues that will be addressed at Conarh Saúde (National Congress of Human Resources, with a focus on Health), promoted by ABRH Brasil (Brazilian Association of Human Resources) and ASAP (Alliance for Population Health) on 23 August, in the capital. St. Paul.
“Can We Help Prevent Burnout? The good news is we can learn the most sensitive signs of this disease, long before the situation gets worse. In this way, we have the possibility to alert company leaders, family members and friends to refer the case, when necessary, to specialists such as psychologists and psychiatrists “, says psychologist Luiz Edmundo Rosa, director of ABRH Brasil, focused on Corporate Health and coordinator of Conarh Health.
For Luiz Edmundo, burnout is an increasingly common form of severe mental imbalance. It occurs due to a person’s inability to correctly perceive and react to changes in their mental state. However, it is possible to state that there may also be an inability of their family, friends and colleagues, as they could not see or act in time to prevent this syndrome from getting worse.
The signs appear gradually
Burnout can cause serious psychological and social damage, difficult to resolve, both for the person and for all those around him. Once the crisis has broken out, treatment can be lengthy and at a high emotional and financial cost. The signs that precede a crisis can be identified on a severity scale, measured by the deepening of the condition, to which are added increasingly severe symptoms.
“Some signs are easier to notice. Others, on the other hand, are more difficult to detect and the affected person may not be aware of what is happening, requiring a more refined observation, which includes from a friendly dialogue to a consultation with a professional, ”explains Luiz Edmundo.
There are many warning signs. Check out 12 points below which are very common and may be enough to indicate the need for a help process. The risk of Burnout increases with the persistence, progression and combination of these indicators. The signals were placed on a risk scale, divided into yellow (mild), orange (moderate) and red (severe).
