At the center of the house, the environment is oriented towards well-being and the interaction between residents and guests.

In the contemporary reading of architecture, the living room now has the kitchen as a “competitor” for the title of heart of the houseprecisely because of the characteristic of bringing people together.
But the fact is that the living room will always be the room considered as the meeting point between the residents, who sit down to have fun in front of the TV, as well as to socialize with their guests.

The living room, in addition to commonly appearing in the central part of the plant and receiving the entrance door, guides the style of the decorative project.
“I like to say that the room must be able to embrace everyone and provide, at the same time, the feelings of well-being and safety“, underlines the architect Andrea Camillowho runs his office.

Depending on its configuration and the elements placed there, it can also acquire multiple functions. But how to align them? To do this, the professional has listed the points that he observes in his projects. Watch:
Basic elements

In contrast to the multitude of options, a living room cannot miss some items, regardless of the style adopted. Together with the sofa, the professional highlights the beauty of a carpet, curtains to dress the windows, cushions, plants and a custom lighting.
Furthermore, there are some factors to define before setting up the environment. See the list below:
layout

According to Andrea, all decisions must be made keeping the layout of the project in hand. This “preview” covers both the expected configuration and the measurements, which guarantee the harmony and the functionality of the environment.
“We cannot renounce to maintain a comfortable circulation between the furniture, and the ‘dialogue’ in the choices made, which involve both the pieces themselves, and the fabrics, materials and formats, among other issues”, says the architect.

Another detail concerns the understanding and success of the arrangement of the room with respect to the other rooms.
Since the integration between the environments has already established itself as a trend that will remain in the Brazilian architectural style, the living room maintains its individuality, but in a certain sense follows the characteristics of the furniture adopted for the project as a whole.
For residents who see the kitchen as a continuation of welcoming visitors, the connection to the living room is a perfect option.

In this way, the owner does not need to be absent during the preparation of a meal, which in most cases is an element of great importance and is responsible for conducting the meetings.
“Rooms integrated with large kitchen o gourmet spaces work very well for socializing and sharing gastronomic experiences “, Andrea completes.
Color palette

In the sequence indicated by the specialist, establishing the color palette is essential to accompany the decision-making process which is accompanied by textures and formats.
Elements

In this process, the selection of the elements is fundamental. According to the architect Andrea Camillo, analyze the needs and desired functions they are valuable indicators for not making mistakes.
“The expectations of the residents, as well as the floor plan itself and the use of the available area, must be met for a good result,” he reports.

Among the criteria that the architectural professional must consider are the habits of the residents such as the frequency with which they receive guests – which will require the inclusion of extra seats – as well as the frequency with which they will use the room to watch TV or listen music, for example. “For every condition, an answer”, says Andrea.

“I usually start mapping from larger pieces such as sofas, armchairs and tables and only then do we proceed with the carpets, curtains and other furnishing accessories that will complete the environment with total mastery “, he adds.
Decoration

After defining the basic elements, the guideline is to choose the decorative elements that make the difference, but which are not so essential for the activities carried out in the living room.
“At this stage, we consider what goes beyond aesthetics. In conversations with my clients, I try to understand what sensations are desired for the living room. These are the desires that help us bring the right objects”, describes the architect .
Lighting

Since light is able to create the dream atmosphere for any room, for the living room the specialist suggests features such as the LED crown molding and the arrangement of the pieces with AR70 lamps focused on sideboards, tables and other objects.
Another possibility is to invest versions dichroic – low voltage halogen lamps with an interior consisting of a reflective surface -, or LED profiles.
optimize life

In addition to the well-known designed furniture, which can greatly optimize spaces, the insertion of “two in one” usually solves the life of the residents.
“A pouf can act as a coffee table, as well as a seat on certain occasions”, explains Andrea.
Make everything more practical

To simplify daily maintenance, easy-to-clean materials make the resident’s life much better. It is the case of waterproof fabrics considered for sofas, armchairs and chairs, as well as for the application of porcelain stoneware on floors.
