With the competitions approved by the Guilde Internationale des Fromagers, the Mundial is the only national award that embraces the entire dairy sector, involving artisanal and industrial producers.

In its first edition held in the city of Araxá, in Minas Gerais, one year before the pandemic, the World Cheese Championship in Brazil received a total of 953 registered cheeses and attracted around thirty-three thousand people. With 239 medals recognized by a body of 160 Brazilian and foreign judges, the event showcased the success of Brazilian cheeses on the international stage.

For the 2022 edition it is estimated to receive about 1,200 cheeses entered in the 2nd Cheese and Dairy Competition, as well as about 50,000 people who pass by and enjoy the universe of cheese.

Big names are at the forefront of the jury, such as Claude Maret, president of the Fédération des Fromagers de France and Vanessa Alcolea, technical manager of cheeses at Pardinho Artesanal – SP and member of SerTãoBras. The jury is made up of a team of 200 judges, including chefs, journalists and sommeliers certified by the renowned French school Mons Formation.

World Cheese Program

The programming of the 2nd edition of the World Cheese Championship in Brazil includes technical conferences, discussion forums, training courses and harmonized tastings. In addition to the Cheese and Dairy Products competition that was consecrated in 2019, two other competitions, unprecedented in Brazil, will recognize the best dairyman and the best dairyman in Brazil.

At the same time, two fairs are held at the same time: one inside the theater, for a paying audience, aimed at the professional cheese sector. Outside, sui pilotis, the free producers’ fair has stands offering a variety of products such as cheeses, oils, honeys, accessories, wines and Japanese sake.
